Stoke nearly do the unthinkable

Manchester City could only draw against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. The game was packed incident, near misses and player debuts. Peter Crouch scored after handling the ball, plus City’s Tevez, Toure and Balotelli all wasted opportunities to put the ball past Asmir Begovic, Stoke’s keeper. In addition, we saw the long awaited return of Michael Owen and Javi Garcia. For once betting blog sites got it wrong, even though some were looking for Owen to score on his debut and do Manchester United a favor!

Owen did not manage to make that type of impact, but Manchester City’s Garcia made a magical debut with a goal for his team. The draw was not the win that Garcia and the City faithful expected, as it still leaves City without a win at Stoke for the last six games. It didn’t help that Roberto Mancini’s squad, along with nearly everyone else in the stadium see Crouch blatantly use his left hand to control the ball before whacking past Joe Hart.

Online betting operators would have been thankful for the draw, as it would mean that they would have definitely been laughing all the way to the bank. Almost all football fans would have had a City win as one of their bankers for the weekend. It just goes to show the English Premier League has no easy games or teams. The top teams have every other team raising their game to try to nick a win or draw, and the bottom teams are fighting desperately to stay out of the relegation drama.

Every year, we see more exciting football and long may it continue!
