Casino Movies to Watch at Cold Winter Nights

Casinos are seen as the realm of the rich and famous and we get this illusion from Hollywood and the movies that they make. From corrupt casino owners to casino heists, there’s something that’s cool and collected about casino movies, and here are s a few of the best out there.

The Cincinnati Kid, 1965

This classic movie about poker stars screen legend Steve McQueen and follows an up and coming poker player who tries to prove himself in a high stakes game against one of the masters.

The Sting, 1973

Robert Redford and Paul Newman star in this casino gambling classic where these two Hollywood legends go up against a gangster, to the backdrop of a fantastic soundtrack.

Rounders, 1998

John Malkovich stars in this 90s movie as a Russian gangster who faces a problem in the form of a very young Matt Damon who enters a big stakes game in order to help his friend, an equally baby faced Edward Norton, pay off his loan shark debts.

Ocean’s Eleven, 1960

The original movie starred Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin as 3 of eleven friends who hatch a plan to rob 5 of the biggest Las Vegas casinos all in one night. Something always goes a little wrong though, and although the heist is pulled off, not everything goes to plan. The re-make, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt is a sleek option too.

Casino, 1995

Martin Scorcese’s classic Vegas film is all about the mafia domination in the 1970s and is loosely based on a true story. Showing off Las Vegas bright lights and glitz and glamour, whilst also showing the dark undertone of brutality and corruption.
