Can Manchester City Progress in the Champions League?

On Wednesday night we all witnessed Manchester City struggle for a draw at the Etihad Stadium against a more confident and superior Borussia Dortmund team. Betting blog sites are already filled with comments and opinions on whether or not Man City has the determination and resolve to overcome the demons from last year’s venture into the European Cup. As it was only a late penalty scored by the young Italian Mario Balotelli that keeps Mancini’s team in with any chance of reaching the knock out stages of the competition.

The game saw both teams with numerous chances, but it was goalless at the end of the first half. Hart was the hero for City with some glorious saves that will not only forever place him in the hearts of City fans, but in the England team as well. The second half saw Borussia Dortmund take the lead after a dreadful mistake by Rodwell, and no one can say it was not well deserved after the long spells of continuous pressure by the away team.

Bearing in mind Group D is one of the hardest groups, and Mancini stated before the game it was a ‘must win’ affair which they could only just draw, it does not seem likely that the Manchester City will improving on their record in the competition. However, online betting operator Skybet has City 7/1 to win the group and 16/1 to win the tournament outright, so at least the bookmakers still believe they can still do it!
